Seafood Alfredo Lasagna

Ingredients

For the Alfredo Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

For the Ricotta Mixture:

  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Seafood Filling:

  • 1 pound medium shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 1 pound lump crab meat, picked over for shells
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

For the Lasagna Assembly:

  • 12 lasagna noodles (cooked and drained)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions


Step 1: Prepare the Alfredo Sauce

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Stir in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese until fully melted and the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Ricotta Mixture

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Step 3: Prepare the Seafood Filling

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp, season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, and cook until pink and opaque (about 3–4 minutes).
  2. Gently fold in the crab meat and cook for 1 minute to warm through. Remove from heat.

Step 4: Assemble the Lasagna

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread a thin layer of Alfredo sauce on the bottom of the dish.
  3. Add a layer of lasagna noodles, followed by:
    • A layer of the ricotta mixture
    • A layer of shrimp and crab filling
    • A drizzle of Alfredo sauce
  4. Repeat these layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with lasagna noodles topped with Alfredo sauce.
  5. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan evenly over the top.

Step 5: Bake

  1. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Step 6: Serve

  1. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
