  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

Prepare the Tomatoes

  • Slice the green tomatoes into even rounds and pat dry with paper towels.
  • Season both sides with salt, black pepper, and paprika.

Set Up the Breading Station

  • In one bowl, place the flour.

  • In a third bowl, combine cornmeal and breadcrumbs.

Coat the Tomatoes

  • Dredge each tomato slice in the flour, shaking off excess.
