Ingredients

For the Apple Filling:

  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

For the Crisp Topping:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8x8-inch baking dish.


Step 2: Prepare the Apple Filling

  1. In a large bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice.
  2. Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and flour. Stir to coat the apples evenly.
  3. Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Step 3: Make the Crisp Topping

  1. In a medium bowl, mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture forms a crumbly texture.

Step 4: Assemble and Bake

  1. Evenly sprinkle the crisp topping over the apple filling.
  2. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.

Step 5: Serve Let the crisp cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
