  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons sugar (optional for sweetness)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into small pieces
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce

    • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, black pepper, sugar (if using), and chicken broth. Set aside.
  2. Cook the Chicken

    • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
    • Add the chicken slices and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook the Broccoli

    • In the same skillet, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
    • Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons of water, cover, and steam the broccoli for 2–3 minutes until tender but still crisp.
  4. Combine Everything

    • Uncover the skillet and add the garlic, ginger, and red chili flakes (if using). Stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.
    • Return the chicken to the skillet. Pour in the sauce and toss to coat everything evenly.
    • Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and everything is heated through.
  5. Serve

    • Transfer the chicken and broccoli to a serving dish. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
