Ingredients
For the Dutch Baby
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 3/4 cup whole milk, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
Optional Toppings
- Powdered sugar
- Maple syrup
- Whipped cream
- Extra fresh blueberries
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Place a 10-inch oven-safe skillet or cast-iron pan in the oven to heat.
Step 2: Prepare the Batter
- In a blender or mixing bowl, combine the eggs, milk, flour, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend or whisk until smooth. Let the batter rest for 5–10 minutes to allow the flour to hydrate.
Step 3: Heat the Skillet
- Carefully remove the skillet from the oven and add the butter. Swirl it around to coat the bottom and sides of the pan evenly.
- Sprinkle half of the blueberries over the melted butter.
Step 4: Bake the Dutch Baby
- Pour the batter over the blueberries in the skillet. Sprinkle the remaining blueberries on top.
- Return the skillet to the oven and bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the Dutch Baby is puffed and golden brown around the edges.
Step 5: Serve
- Remove the skillet from the oven and let the Dutch Baby cool slightly (it will deflate as it cools).
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup, whipped cream, or extra blueberries if desired.
Kitchen Tips
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or lemon zest to the batter.
- Use fresh blueberries for the best results, but frozen blueberries work well too—just toss them in a little flour before adding to the pan to prevent sinking.
- Serve immediately for the best texture.
This Blueberry Dutch Baby is easy to make and absolutely delicious—a perfect centerpiece for a weekend brunch or a simple yet elegant dessert. Enjoy!
